Primary Shakespeare School Festival

Primary Shakespeare School Festival

The Academy at Shotton Hall took part in the Shakespeare Schools Festival in November 2014 and November 2016.

A group of Year 8 students and a group of local primary school children performed two of Shakespeare's plays at the Gala Theatre in Durham in November 2016.

The sold out show was part of the Shakespeare Schools Festival 2016, a festival that celebrates the work of Shakespeare, over 400 years after his death. The festival uses a rigorous and supportive process to train teachers and young people in an active and ambitious way of working with Shakespeare.

For some of our actors, it was their first time on stage, but it certainly won't be their last.

In 2014, the Academy’s partner primary schools performed A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Year 8 drama club performed Julius Caesar. The two performances took place at the Northern Stage in Newcastle, the show was a complete sell out and a huge success.

Well done to everyone who took part!
