What did you do for the community (local, national or international)?
I participated in a community arts group assisting artists to teach small children how to express their inner creativity. The children came from primary school and had expressed an interested or skill in art. As part of this experience I was able to show children the various forms of art by taking them on visits to art galleries in the local area.
Why did you volunteer?
I wanted to not only help children discover art but also build key skills necessary for me to become an art teacher in schools. Also, I thought it would be a great way to experience new things and meet new people and local artists.
What have you gained from such an experience?
I was able to use this on my CV and applications for teacher training.
