Will Foxx

I left university in 2014, early, to work with a new local TV station based in Tyne & Wear, broadcasting on Channel 7 & Sky 117.

Over four years with Tyne & Wear TV I climbed the various roles (mostly unpaid at first) including editor, lighting assistant, camera-man, floor manager & weather presenter. Eventually I was offered a full-time job as a content producer and video journalist/presenter, which I have now worked as for nearly two years. It’s the best job in the world. I’ve met and interviewed local and national talent such as Marco Pierre-White, Tracy Beaker, Denise Welch, Mo Farah, Dick & Dom, Jordan Banjo, Angelica Bell, Joe McElderry to name a few, and I’ve seen every inch of our wonderful region and shown viewers what the north east has to offer.

What university did you attend?

Sunderland University/East Durham College

What are your future plans and ambitions?

I’d like my next steps to be working towards expanding my journalism and TV career, perhaps with ITV or BBC.

What has been the highlight of your life so far after leaving school?

Being offered a job presenting live and pre-recorded TV every night of the week, a job I always dreamed of.

What is your favourite Shotton Hall memory?

Being one of the first students to see & move into the new building, when it was completed in 2011.

You can invite one person to a dinner party - who do you invite and why?

I’d love to invite Ant & Dec to a dinner party, they have been idols of mine since I was old enough to watch TV, and to this day have helped me keep sight of my goals.

Advice to my younger self...

Only you can truly create your future. You CAN NOT grow unless you push yourself out of your comfort zone, and do things you aren’t 100% comfortable with. Believe in yourself, set yourself a realistic goal, and don’t lose sight of it.
