Sophie Ogden

Sophie is currently working in the finance department of the NHS County Durham and Darlington Foundation Trust.

What have you been up to since leaving the Academy?

Since leaving Shotton Hall I started an apprenticeship in the finance department of the NHS County Durham and Darlington Foundation Trust. I've had various roles in this team, such as Finance Apprentice, Accounts Payable and Assistant Management Accountant.

What do you remember most about your time at Shotton Hall?

I remember sitting with my friends on the couches at a lunch and break time.

How do you think your school days helped you prepare for what you do now?

School helped me prepare for all of the deadlines I now have to meet in my working life. It also taught me how to balance my life and organise my time making sure I could socialise, get my homework and revision done and still have some me time.

What are your future plans and ambitions?

I have recently began studying and working towards my AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification, which will help me with my goal of working my way up within management accounts and finance.

Advice to my younger self...

Be confident! It’s okay if it doesn’t work out, risks are worth taking and you can always redo something if you need to.
