Arts in school

Ensuring the arts are a key part of school life is an important aspect of the community arts programme. Embedding 'arts in school' means offering students the opportunity to experience arts and culture as a part of the curriculum. Experimentation is a big part of all school projects allowing students to be spontaneous and to use creative practice to really fire their imagination.

Recent projects have included:

  • Healthy School Week 

  • Shakespeare Schools

  • Young Americans

  • Shakespeare schools festival

  • Anti-bullying week

School arts provision includes:

  • Year 7 drama club

  • Year 8 drama club

  • Senior drama club

  • Key stage 3 and 4 choirs

  • Individual singing tuition - London College of Music examinations

  • LAMDA solo acting examinations

Celebrating the arts

The Academy at Shotton Hall has been awarded both the National Arts Mark and the Arts Award. These awards celebrate the culture of arts learning within the school and accredit the quality of arts learning that we offer. 

At the Academy we celebrate:

  • Annual Cultural Heritage event

  • Christmas carol service

  • Annual school musical

  • Arts and culture celbratory event

  • Performing alongside visiting artists and companies
