Our Year 8 students went back in time to Beamish Museum to dive in further to our local study which focuses on the impact of industry and mining in County Durham.
The group took part in a workshop which focused on the Collieries Act 1842. In the workshop they debated if women and children under ten should work in mines or not! Students used their knowledge of mining and industry and got very involved with the characters. After they explored the museum and of course got plenty of sweets and fish and chips!
