We caught up with our musical ex-students who are going from strength to strength in their band, Vice Killer.
Here's what Thomas from Vice Killer had to say:
"We were recently invited to support ‘The Futureheads’ at Festival 75 in January, this was a celebration to mark 75 years since Peterlee was named a ‘new town’.
It was a surreal experience playing to such a big crowd in our hometown, and at East Durham College, where myself and Lewis both studied at. Were were so pleased to play alongside a band who we’ve listened to since being kids and we hope to have some more exciting events in Peterlee soon.
It was also lovely seeing so many ex-students working and involved in the event, I think more events like this will be exciting for the local community."
On their new release - Marlene's in Trouble
"Last week we released our first single of the year ‘Marlene’s in Trouble’ which will feature on our upcoming EP ‘Keep On Fighting On’. I originally wrote this on my acoustic guitar, as with many of our songs I take them to James, Jack, and Lewis, then we see what we can make of it! It’s very influenced by Rock & Roll tracks from the likes of The Velvet Underground, as well as the pop sounds of The Housemartins."

What's next for Vice Killer?
"Before any more new releases, we play Jesmond on 29th February at a small intermit venue called ‘BOBIKS’ - tickets are available online. Upon the release of our EP, we hope to play some intermit shows in County Durham so keep an eye out for that."
