On Monday 27 January, 15 students from the Academy were invited to perform in a Holocaust Memorial Day event at The Lubetkin Theatre in Peterlee.
The chamber choir performed Blowin’ in the Wind and a group of dancers performed to a poem read by Adam Elliott. All students performed at their usual high standard and demonstrated maturity and sensitivity throughout such a moving evening.
The performance was followed by Gabriele Keenaghan who told the story of how her grandmother secured a place on a Kindertransport train from Austria to the UK. Gabriele was recently awarded the British Empire Medal by the Queen for her services to Holocaust education and awareness.
