World Space Week, an international celebration of science and technology, takes place each year from 4-10 October and our KS3 students were keen to get involved!
Before half term, students celebrated by taking part in live, virtual science sessions run by STEM FEST. They were then tasked with creating a piece of work or model themed around our solar system, which definitely put their creative skills to the test.
After much deliberation, the winners of the three categories, best scientific project, best effort and most creative, were chosen by members of the science department. The winners were as follows:
- Best scientific project: Isabella, Year 8
- Best effort: Eden, Year 8
- Most creative: Alfie and Euan, Year 7
Miss Dawson, Head of KS3 science, commented: "It was fantastic to see how much our KS3 students engaged with the competition. It shows a great level of enthusiasm for science and that we have some amazing budding scientists here at the Academy. It was so difficult to choose the winning projects!"
All students who entered were awarded with merits and a certificate of participation. Our project winners were awarded an extra special certificate and some exciting science themed prizes. Well done students!
