Reading Rocks Week 2019

Date Published:

Reading Rocks Week returned to the Academy this week to inspire students to read more and enjoy it!

Regular reading makes a big difference to educational performance as it increases general knowledge and develops a broader vocabulary. It is something we do every day and a skill we will always need to use in our lives, no matter what path we take. It is also enjoyable - there is no better feeling than getting lost between the pages of a great book!

After a jam-packed week of activities, including competitions, a never-ending story, and of course, dressing up for World Book Day - we are definitely feeling inspired to read more!

Well done to everyone who has got involved in particular, well done to Alex White in Year 7 who won our extreme reading competition (see winning photo below) and the winners of our book cover competition.

If you do anything over Easter - make sure you read a book!
