Kind-hearted Year 8 student, Ellie Leigh Ryan, from The Academy at Shotton Hall, has taken it upon herself to make a difference by raising money for various charities.

It all started last year when Ellie decided to cut off one foot of her hair for The Prince's Trust whilst at the same time, raising £270 for the Bradley Lowery Foundation thanks to sponsors.

At Christmas, Ellie decided she wanted to raise money for Dogs Trust after her dog was hurt in a road accident. She went on to make homemade Christmas cards which she sold to her friends and neighbours, making £70.

Ellie isn't planning on stopping either - she is hoping to complete a sponsored dog walk next for a charity that takes care of cats.

Well done Ellie and keep it up!
