A group of students from Years 8 and 10 have been working together with North-East-based environmental artist, Steve Messam, to create a sculpture based on Steve's Apollo Pavillion installation.
Steve's installation, of four illuminated inflatable sculptures, celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Pavilion's unveiling. Steve's work focusses on rural or urban settings to make us perceive the familiar environment in a new way.
The students took great influence from Steve's work and chose to use the medium of plastic bags to demonstrate our overuse of plastic in our everyday lives.
Well done to all involved - the sculpture looks great!
