Congratulations to the 35 super-friendly Year 7 students who were appointed as buddies this week.
Buddies play an important role in transition here at the academy. They visit primary schools with Mrs Sharpe, help with Year 6 visits and support the new Year 7s when they start in September. They are a friendly bunch who will make the new Year 7s feel welcome at our school.
Over 90 Year 7 students applied to be a buddies and nearly 60 were interviewed by Mrs Sharpe, Head of Transition, and Mr Wood, Learning Manager of Year 7. Mrs Sharpe and Mr Wood were overwhelmed by the excellent interviews and maturity our students showed.
Mr Wood said: "I am so proud of everyone who applied and it was a tough decision to choose only 35. Well done all."
Mrs Sharpe agreed and commented: "I can't wait to start the transition with a fantastic group of buddies, I know they will be superb ambassadors for our school."
