Earlier this month, a small group of Year 9 students travelled to Croatia to participate in an exciting STEM project at Visnjan Observatory.
The group joined other students from across Europe and experts in the field to complete 'heavy duty' science activities at the astronomical observatory in Croatia.
The first day consisted of workshops where students calculated the age of the universe and classified galaxies followed by a visit to the coast to complete biodiversity studies.
Later in the week, students followed one of four practical investigations either; building and designing functional microscopes and telescopes; performing clinical trials on a variety of sun screens; investigating how effective UV radiation was at killing bacteria or measuring the size of the earth's magnetic field.
All in all, it was a fun-filled week of science madness. See pictures below.
