Well done to Year 7 student Ben Olver who recently won 18th place in the British Youth Fencing Championships held in Sheffield.
Ben competed against 46 other fencers in the under 12 category and, after seven poules, he made it through to the last 32. After losing in the direct elimination round, he finished in 18th place - a fantastic acheievment, especially for someone who has only been doing the sport for two years.
Ben isn't the only fencer we have at the Academy, there is also Tegan McCallum who won gold at the North East Regionals and Mitchell Scott - well done.
The students attend a class on a Monday night at Wellfield School starting at 6pm until 8pm. New starters are welcome.
