From 1-7 April, Mr Kell, Mrs Goebbel and Academy students from Year 8 visited Zaragoza in Northern Spain to learn about career opportunities and jobs in renewables.
They were joined by students from Lithuania, Romania, Italy, Martinique, Norway, Germany and of course Spain.
During the week our students visited Zaragoza University to attend lectures on the commercial usage of solar energy and watched demonstrations of new green technologies used in energy generation, which looked something from a science fiction movie. It was not all glamour however, as we visited a glass recycling plant and a waste recycling centre!
During the week students presented work they had done at school and made new friends from all over the world.
Zaragoza is a beautiful city and the students had the opportunity to visit the old Arabic Castle and the Pillar where students were filmed talking to and addressing questions to both the regional environment minister and the city mayor - but the biggest shock of the week was to bump into a former academy student who now lives in Zaragoza!
