Academy students have just dropped off a huge food donation to our local food bank in Peterlee - just in time for Christmas.

Christmas is a demanding time for food banks across the UK, with more and more families struggling to make ends meet at this time of year and therefore having to rely on food banks to eat.

Our local food bank at East Durham Trust hands out an average of 40 food parcels each week, but with growing demand, they estimate that they will increase this to around 100 this week.

As well as the food donations, we also donated £140 which was raised in school during various events, which will be used to buy bread and milk, as well as anything else they may be short of for the food parcels.

Thank you to everyone who donated.
