Following this, the group spent two days in a school completing activities based on gender stereotypes. They then had the opportunity to visit historical and religious sites including the Forts which surround Mdina, The island of Gozo, Saint Paul's Church and the Catacombs.
They participated in lots of team building activities and met lots of new friends from a variety of European countries including: Finland, Croatia, Portugal and Malta. Together they broke down barriers and stereotypes associated with gender and enjoyed a BBQ on the beach towards the end of their stay.
Year 8 students at the Academy had to enter a competition to win their place on the trip by creating a short video or animation explaining what they knew about gender stereotypes. The entries were absolutely fantastic and narrowing them down to only six winners was very difficult, but the winners were a huge credit to our school throughout the whole trip. Huge well done to: Ajay Embleton, Evan Atherton, Alfie Mackinnon, Jessica Butler, Anna Grieg, Keisha Maddison. See pictures below or find out more about our involvement in Erasmus+ here.
