Today every Year 7 student received a free book of their choice, donated by reading charity Booktrust, before settling down to read it with teachers from across the school as part of our annual 'Big Read' event.
The Big Read event aims to encourage students to develop a love of reading using interesting books and enthusiastic teachers who already love reading themselves.
The English department are also running a 'Big Read' competition where Year 7 students are challenged to write a review and create a 'shoe-box' scene about their free book. Year 7 students can find out more about this from their English teachers.
