A group of outdoorsy students are well on their way to achieving the bronze Duke of Edinburgh award after completing a walk around Derwent Water at the weekend.

So far students have completed practice expeditions and took part in day walks, both in Keswick and Bromley Grangei in Stocksfield. Their assessed expedition will be in a few weeks time at Hadrian’s wall where they will camp overnight, cook on a stove and navigate a route, walking for about six hours. They need to work as a team to navigate their way to check points (a little bit like Bear Grylls, but not quite!).

As well as the expeditions the students are taking part in skills development, volunteering and physical development which all count towards them achieving Bronze Award for DofE.

All students have been fantastic - keep it up!
