Students talk about being British for Everyone Writes Day

Date Published:

Students in Year 7 wrote a speech about what it means to be British before the bravest students took part in the Great Shotton Speech Off; performing their speeches in front of the rest of the group.

The event was organised as part of Everybody Writes Day which is an annual celebration of writing in schools to celebrate writing in all its forms.

Students spoke about what makes them proud to be British in particular; tea, weather and fish and chips but also equality, politeness and kindness.

Huge well done to the confident speakers who rose to the challenge and read out their speech in front of everyone (pictured below) and to our winning speakers: Joe Digby and Luke Nicholson in 7S and Brandon Forster, Levi Black, Ben Waller and Amy Hamilton in 7H.
