Bake off raises £400 for Macmillan

On Thursday night, all our bakers at the Academy pulled on their aprons, got their mixing bowls out and cooked up a storm for our annual bake off to raise money for Macmillan.

We had some brilliant entries from staff and students; unicorn cakes, huge chocolate cakes, heart shaped cakes, NELT cupcakes and more. Our star bakers were:

Staff winners:

  • Star baker - Mrs Heseltine
  • Runner up - Mrs Brennan
  • Third place - Miss Curtis

Student winners: (pictured below)

  • Star baker - Alice Rippon (Year 8) for an amazing (and very large) chocolate fudge cake
  • Runner Up - Faye Fenwick (Year 8) for a beautiful Macmillan tea-cup cake
  • Third place - Alarice Fraser (Year 7) for a fantastically decorated heart cake.

All the cakes went on sale at breaktime and were sold in record time with £350 raised for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Who knew we had so many fantastic bakers? Well done everyone!
