Big well done to talented cornet players Sophie Reed in Year 9 and Lydia Matterson in Year 7 who recently took part in the Music for Youth festival.
The Music for Youth National Festival in Birmingham celebrates the UK’s most inspiring young musicians with five days of live music. The girls were one of 400 amazing acts performing at the spectacular event.
The girls and their band - the Houghton Area Youth Band had already performed at the semi-finals at the Sage in Gateshead in January before performing in Birmingham last week.
They are now waiting to hear if they have made it through to the final show which will take place at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall later in the year. Good luck!
