Buddies recruited!

Recruitment of our Year 7 'buddies' was harder than ever this year with 77 applicants and 55 interviews for only 30 places.

At the Academy, we run the 'buddies' scheme every year to help the transition of our new Year 7 students into secondary school. The buddies are there to help and guide the new Year 7s and are seen to them as a friendly face, someone to get advice from and someone to look up to. The buddies will work alongside the new year group during their transition days next month and then in September when they will spend sept time with the Year 7s until half term.

Miss Dobie, current Year 7 Learning Manager said: "I was overwhelmed with how many applications we received, all of which were of such a high quality. It was really tough choosing only 30 buddies from the interviews, I would've took all of them on if I could. Well done to all of you."

Emma Bendelow, 7E2 said: “I feel that the new Year 7s deserve a warm and friendly welcome to our outstanding Academy”

Eleanor O’Reilly, 7S3 said: “When I moved from primary to secondary, I never felt lonely, lost or unhappy because of the fabulous buddies in my sept. I would like to ensure the new Year 7s feel the same way as me.”

Our enthusiastic and friendly buddies are already counting down the days until they can meet our new Year 7s...
