2016 marks the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare's death and this National Shakespeare Week (18th - 24th April), the Academy is going all out to celebrate our country's most famous playwright.
So far activities have included a Bard flashmob, Shakespeare themed assemblies, dressing classroom doors as famous Shakespeare plays, the launch of a poster competition and sept quizzes. Some musical Year &s have even tuned a passage from The Merchant of Venice into a rap...
William Shakespeare was an English poet, playwright, and actor, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's pre-eminent dramatist. He is often called England's national poet and the Bard of Avon. His works consist of approximately 38 plays and 154 sonnets. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright.
Shakespeare is very important at our school with Macbeth studied at Key Stage 4 and Romeo and Juliet and The Tempest studied at Key Stage 3.
Watch this space for the outcome of our grand Shakespeare Week finale happening on Friday.
