The Academy at Shotton Hall is excited to be part of a new scholarship programme designed to help young people become the next generation of school teachers. The Department for Education’s Future Teaching Scholars programme will offer bright and talented students who excel at maths or physics a supported route into teaching.
Successful applicants will be awarded a significant scholarship that includes a £15,000 grant whilst they study a maths or physics related degree. In addition local applicants and successful graduates will be offered a place on our teacher training courses here at Shotton Hall once they graduate.
Bryan Stephenson, Director of the Shotton Hall Teaching School Alliance says: “This is an exciting route into teaching, and as well as a generous grant whilst you’re studying at university, each Future Teaching Scholar becomes a member of an exclusive and exciting national programme, which includes national and regional events, school-based activities and opportunities to be involved in research to improve maths and physics teaching.”
This prestigious programme has a limited number of places open to students who are applying to university, and the current round of applications closes on 31 March 2016.
