It has become a tradition at the Academy to collect donations for the foodbank every Christmas and this year was no different.
Instead of presents under our Christmas tree, we had a mound of food donations collected from our generous students and staff and dropped off at out local foodbank this morning.
The foodbank in Peterlee gets an average of 50 requests a week from families, couples and people on their own. The number of food parcels has grown considerably since the foodbank opened six years ago and the number of parcels needed over Christmas also increases. The foodbank has already received 81 requests this week - some from families of seven.
The foodbank relies on big donations like ours to get them through the Christmas period so well done everyone - EVERY donation counts.
Merry Christmas!
