Yesterday a number of GCSE RE students got a visit from a local lay priest who delivered a Christingle service.

Ray Turner, who delivers services at Holy Trinity Church in Hartlepool, agreed to come into school and discuss the importance of Christmas for Christians. The group took part in a lovely small service which included the Christingles the students had created in their previous lesson.

Students were then given the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and understanding of Christianity through a 'question and answer' session. One student commented: "It is incredibly valuable to have someone from outside school come in and answer our questions as they have a real life understanding of faith".

The students had a fantastic time and all students involved left feeling a true appreciation for the significance of Christmas.

The students and their teacher Miss Chadwick, have since agreed to make a small donation to the Children’s Society who raise money for less fortunate children in the UK.

Big thank you to Mr Turner for taking the time out to come and visit us at this very busy time of year.
