Today, Regional Schools Commissioner for the North of England, Janet Renou, officially opened our new eco-building.

The new building is designed to offer a state-of-the-art sustainable teaching environment with extra classroom space and a dedicated home for our teacher training courses.

The building features efficient energy systems and is constructed predominantly from cedar making it blend into the natural surroundings at the rear of the school.

Lee Alexander, Head of Finance and Business Development at the Academy said:

“We are thrilled at our new building which is one of a kind in Peterlee. It is an excellent addition to the already exceptional facilities here at Shotton Hall."

You can find out more about the type of building we had created by TG Escapes here and see a video of the eco-build itself here.
