STEM club welcome special visitor

Civil engineer and ex-student, Josh Chapman, visited STEM club yesterday to talk about his job at Building Design Northern.

The session started with a quiz to test how much the students already knew about engineering. Josh then showed students the 3D models he is currently designing for a site in Durham City Centre.

He spoke about how he got his job, what skills are needed and other routes into engineering (apprenticeship vs university).

Students were then given an engineering challenge to build the strongest and tallest spaghetti tower - see photos below.

All in all, it was a great session - thank you to Josh for coming in!
