Talented ex-student Megan has just won a highly credible third place in a national photography competition.
Megan Ogden, 16, from Shotton Colliery, who is studying photography, fine art and psychology at East Durham College’s Sixth Form in Peterlee, was announced in the top three winners of the Exhibtr 2015/16 Student Photography Competition sponsored by Olympus.
The theme of the competition was ‘Fashion, Beauty and Lifestyle’ and encouraged students to show off their ability to compose a great image. Megan was one of thousands of entries in the national competition which was open to all full time and part time students. Megan finished third ahead of many entries from university students and adult learners making her achievement all the more impressive.
Megan bagged third place for her image ‘Back Yard Junkie’ and won an Olympus STYLUS TG860 worth nearly £200. Take a look at her winning image above.
Megan said: “I got into photography when I was about 13 and started out taking pictures of flowers, but now I really like taking pictures of people and I hope to have a career doing wedding and baby photography. I’d really like to travel and take pictures of people from other cultures as well.”
First place in the competition went to Cambridge School of Art student, Steven Allwright with second place going to Portsmouth University student Veronika Latanovskaya.
