On Friday, we had the privilege of having local MP Grahame Morris in school as part of the Send My Friend to School campaign.
Grahame attended The Academy at Shotton Hall to collect nearly 400 campaign bags created by Year 7 and Year 8 pupils throughout the week. The bags are designed to send a message to parliament to campaign for the 37 million children globally who are missing out on education.
Send My Friend to School brings together thousands of children across the UK to speak up for the right to education, and remind world leaders of their promise that all children should get the chance to go to school.
The bags were presented to Grahame by Jack Paddon and Lauren Firmin after a well written and presented introduction by Emma Watson, Connor Noble and Tyler Thomas. Following the presentation and speech by Grahame a number of questions were asked by the audience such as: ‘Will Brexit impact education’ and ‘Whether Grahame had ever been called to the Head’s Office’.
Grahame will now deliver the materials created by pupils to 10 Downing Street for their consideration as part of the national Send my Friend to School campaign.
