Performance

In 2017, students achieved fantastic GCSE results, significantly exceeding national averages and placing us amongst the top schools in County Durham.

  • 74% of students achieved English and maths GCSEs at grades 9-4 (broadly similar to the old A*- C passes)
  • 49% of students achieved English and maths GCSEs at grades 9-5 (broadly similar to the old A*- B passes)
  • 88% of students achieved English language/literature GCSE at grades 9-4
  • 74% of students achieved English language/literature GCSE at grades 9-5
  • 76% of students achieved maths GCSE at grades 9-4
  • 52% of students achieved maths GCSE at grades 9-5
  • 92% of students achieved at least one science GCSE at A*- C
  • 74% of students achieved at least two science GCSEs at A*- C
  • 42% of students achieved the EBACC qualification
  • Our Attainment 8 score is currently = 51.9. Our Attainment 8 score shows that they left with very high attainment. You can read more about these measures here and learn how they are calculated. 

New grading system

From August 2017, some exams will have been graded using the new grading system that uses numbers rather than letters (from 9-1 rather than from A*-G). You can find out more about how it works on the website here or download the parent factsheet here
